CAE Healthcare has partnered with Université de Montréal's
Faculty of Medicine to establish and operate a healthcare
simulation training centre, which is called the Centre
d'apprentissage des attitudes et habiletés cliniques (CAAHC). CAE
is operating the training centre, providing instructional services,
developing technology and educational tools, and providing programs
related to medical simulation.
Under the agreement, CAE Healthcare is providing training centre
operations services and instructors. CAE Healthcare and CAAHC
deliver structured healthcare educational programs to the Faculty
of Medicine's students, offer courses such as Advanced Cardiac Life
Support (ACLS) to the community of practice, and create innovative
medical simulation solutions. The healthcare simulation training
centre serves as a research laboratory to improve patient
Together, CAE Healthcare and CAAHC have had a tremendous success
rate at providing training for more than 1,000 students at the
centre every month. CAE's partnership with Université de Montréal's
Faculty of Medicine allows us to transfer our expertise in training
from the aviation domain to the healthcare domain. CAE's work at
the CAAHC allows us to develop and apply methods of simulation
training that help healthcare professionals learn and adapt within
a rapidly changing environment.
CAE Healthcare and the CAAHC first entered into a partnership in
2009. They received accreditation from the Royal College of
Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), and collaboratively
developed a simulation-based medical school curriculum to meet
accreditation standards and objectives.
