CAE Sale Military Training Centre
CAE’s Sale Military Training Centre was officially opened in February 2014 by Australia’s Defence Minister Senator David Johnston. The turnkey training facility located in Sale, Victoria was constructed by CAE following a contract award from Australia’s Defence Material Organisation to deliver King Air 350 Pro Line II simulator services. CAE is providing training through a company-owned/company-operated (COCO) simulator services contract and will be responsible for all operational aspects, facility maintenance and support through to 2018.
The CAE Sale Military Training Centre will primarily support King Air 350 training for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) No. 32 Squadron pilots at RAAF Base East Sale; Royal Australian Navy (RAN) military pilots; Navy Aviation Warfare Officers, instructors and air combat officer students. The facility is also available to third-party customers to conduct B350 initial conversion and currency flight training.
The CAE Sale Military Training Centre houses a CAE 5000 full-flight simulator (FFS) which has been qualified by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to Level D, the highest certification for flight simulators. The CAE 5000 Series FFS features CAE’s Medallion-6000 image generator and includes high-fidelity databases of the Sale, Victoria area as well as other Australian Defence Force (ADF) operating bases. In addition to basic flight and emergency procedures, the simulator is being used to train a variety of missions, including tactical navigation training, tactical support, maritime surveillance and light transport.
