In 2002, CAE and China Southern Airlines, a major international airline servicing one of the fastest-growing aviation markets in the world, formed a joint venture dedicated to providing aviation training solutions for Asian carriers.
The joint venture, Zhuhai Flight Training Centre, is owned 51 per cent by China Southern and 49 per cent by CAE. Operations began in January 2003, building on China Southern's existing training facility at its Zhuhai flight base in Guangdong. Since then the centre has undergone a major expansion, still concentrated on developing and delivering high technology training solutions primarily for commercial aircraft carriers operating Boeing and Airbus aircraft.
