Why Train Ultrasound Technique with CAE VIMEDIX?

The CAE VIMEDIX high-fidelity ultrasound simulator will equip learners with a full understanding of bedside ultrasound use and a battery of skills.

  • Acquisition and fine-tuning of ultrasound skills in traditional and critical care environments
    • Transthoracic (TTE) simulator
    • Transesophageal (TEE) simulator
    • FAST (Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma) simulator
  • Recognition of a wide range of cardiac pathologies and acute abdominal conditions
  • Expansion and consolidation of anatomical knowledge
  • Practice and perfection of hand-eye coordination and probe handling skills, including TEE probe insertion and withdrawal techniques.

Practice makes perfect and using ultrasound simulation learners have the opportunity to consolidate their new knowledge, hone their skills and develop confidence in a risk-free learning environment

<< CAE VIMEDIX ultrasound simulator

Using real-time dynamic imaging and a custom-designed mannequin, the CAE VIMEDIX echocardiography simulator, provides healthcare professionals with an unparalleled training environment for the thoracic cavity and basic to complex cardiac pathologies. Learners can perform a realistic echo assessment of cardiac structures, practice hand-eye coordination and probe handling, and improve pathology recognition skills. The 3D animated heart can be independently cut and rotated, rib and lung artefacts can be toggled on/off. Images can be adjusted with EKG tracing, gain and contrast settings, depth of field, as well as calliper and area measurements. The software also allows the handler to perform rib acoustic shadowing, lung artefacts, reverberations and other realistic imaging features.

Key Features
  • M-mode imaging.
  • Plug’n play probes for transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)
  • Display of heart and all surrounding structures: liver, ribs and sternum, superior and inferior vena cava, aorta, lungs, and vertebral bodies
  • Mannequin with palpable ribs/sternum, depressible abdomen and upper digestive tract
  • Simulator integrated with web-based echo curriculum.

    Variety of pathological cases
  • Tamponade
  • COPD patients
  • Pleural effusion
  • A variety of wall motion abnormalities
  • Apical thrombus
  • Severe pulmonary hypertension
  • Bioprostheses and mechanical heart valves
  • Dilated cardiomyopathies
  • Infective endocarditis
  • And much more

    New modules coming soon
The simulator will soon be equipped with additional modules, including a modified mannequin with a head and upper digestive tract, a probe for transesophageal echocardiography simulation, as well as colour, continuous and pulsed wave Doppler imaging.
