BattleModel

BattleModel is an advanced simulation-based decision support technology. BattleModel provides an integrated simulation environment for reliable and cost-effective through-life support of experimentation, acquisition, and deployment of complex capabilities. It has been successfully used to evaluate and develop complex capabilities, tactics, and operational doctrine.

BattleModel is a proven and commercially available technology. BattleModel enables the mitigation of the risk associated with capability management through:

• Support for test and evaluation using comparative analysis
• Support for acquisition through the evaluation of alternate capability options and the management of risks associated with changes to the acquisition
• Support for deployment through the exploration and evaluation of various tactical options and concepts of operations using both operations research methods and operator in the loop
• Support for tactical training of operators using tactical exercises incorporating human operators and behavioural models

BattleModel has been used extensively and successfully by Australia's Project Wedgetail development of the Boeing 737 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft. It is also being utilized by Australia's Defence Science and Technology Organization (DSTO) in studies of the new Joint Strike Fighter.
