Experimentation

CAE Professional Services excels at experimentation. Our integrated teams apply user-centred, simulation-based experimentation approaches to efficiently design valid and reliable studies, execute studies while controlling bias, reduce and analyze the results in a valid manner, and present those results in a meaningful way.

Reconfigurable simulation-based experimental environments

Simulation is a cornerstone to our experimentation approach. Using live, virtual, and constructive simulation environments, the CAE Professional Services team designs and conducts user-centred experiments to study new concepts and designs, predict human task performance and workload, and investigate human-system performance at the individual and team levels through human-in-the-loop studies.

Capability experiments

The vast nature of a capability - its personnel, processes, and systems - makes simulation the perfect solution for running capability-based experiments. These experiments raise the fidelity of the evaluation of alternative capability architectures to include human-in-the-loop evaluations of alternative command relationships. Within a simulation environment, command and control personnel experience alternative capability configurations in a cost-effective, reconfigurable environment.

Just-in-time complexity

An experiment is conducted to help a client community make a decision in a timely, cost effective fashion. Defining study complexity and using the right amount of visualization to support that study are critical components of our user-centred, simulation-based approach to experimentation. When studying new system or capability designs, we use different tools for visualizing and simulating concepts, capability designs, or detailed system designs as part of our Capability Engineering and Design Approach (CEDA)™, our synthetic environment-based acquisition, and our human systems integration methodologies.
