CAE offers a suite of instructor tools to facilitate instruction and evaluation using CAE’s full-flight simulators and CAE Simfinity™ training devices.
CAE instructor/operator station
Standard with all CAE full-flight simulators and CAE Simfinity™ 3D trainers, the CAE instructor/operator station (IOS) is designed to assist the instructor in controlling the simulator training environment and monitoring all aspects of crew performance in the simulator. At the IOS, the instructor can control, via the dedicated IOS PC graphical interface, all instructional functions, such as the aircraft, meteorological, environmental, and situation condition parameters.
CAE’s IOS positions the instructor behind the pilot and co-pilot, allowing maximum student/instructor interaction during all phases of training without encroaching upon the crew’s working area. This forward facing concept provides the instructor with the best position to monitor the crew, while still having access to the IOS controls and displays.
CAE lesson plan studio
Offered with all CAE full-flight simulators and CAE Simfinity™ 3D trainers, the CAE lesson plan studio is a powerful and user-friendly tool which gives the instructor the ability to create lessons and pre-program any IOS or simulation function off-line prior to the simulation session in order to save valuable time in the simulator. At lesson creation time, the user has full access to the run-time IOS pages in order to conveniently select the events that are to be part of the lesson. Furthermore, its built-in dry-run capability provides the users with the means to test the lessons off-line. The lesson installation process is seamlessly accomplished by means of a local area network (LAN) or any other portable media. Lessons can be easily ported from the full-flight simulator to the Simfinity trainer and vice versa.
CAE brief/debrief system
The CAE brief/debrief system (BDS) provides a valuable instructor tool and is available with all CAE and non-CAE full-flight simulators (FFSs). In briefing mode, the BDS allows for the upload of flight plans and IOS parameters to the FFS to setup the simulation session thus saving valuable simulator time. The instructor can also play back library sessions to demonstrate pre-recorded training maneuvers, get full-flight simulator IOS familiarization and to conduct airport familiarization training. In debriefing mode, the instructor can play back audio, video and data of the last training session, including visual, Jeppesen charts, IOS plots, and graphic aircraft instruments, in multiple windows, for review with the flight crew.
