  • Airbus-approved simulation tools to deliver Airbus pilot and maintenance technician training programs, namely Airbus Pilot Transition (APT) and Airbus Competence Training (ACT) for Maintenance, respectively.
  • Combines Airbus technology content and CAE simulation expertise.
  • Enables active learning and operationally-oriented training.
  • Available for the A320, A330, A340 and A380 aircraft types.

Airbus Pilot Transition (APT) trainer

The CAE Simfinity™ APT Trainer, formerly known as the M/FTD 3D,  is at the core of the Airbus Pilot Transition (APT) training curriculum, replacing all previous training equipment such as fixed-based simulators and partial system trainers used during the ground school phase. This allows for ground training to be easily conducted at any customer site. The APT trainer:

  • Provides a fully simulated Airbus aircraft cockpit in a 3D spatial orientation using touch-sensitive screens to display the cockpit environment in a 1:1 ratio.
  • Includes two data display system (DDS) screens – one each for the captain and first officer – that display the Airbus training material, animated schematics, and virtual aircraft.
  • Equipped with flight control unit (FCU), glare-shield, and multifunction control and display unit (MCDU) hardware panels to further enhance realism and improve the pilot training experience.
  • Can be operated in three different modes to serve different training needs: computer-based training, procedure tutorial and free play.
  • Easily reconfigurable to fit multiple Airbus aircraft types.

Airbus Competence Training (ACT) trainer

The CAE Simfinity ACT Trainer, formerly called M/FTD 2D, is a powerful desktop training tool specifically designed for the Airbus Competence Training for Maintenance training program. It integrates the training curriculum developed by Airbus for maintenance personnel and includes the Airbus virtual aircraft, aircraft documentation and computer-based training (CBT). The ACT trainer is used to acquire theoretical knowledge as well as for some practical training in a classroom environment, thereby reducing training time required on the actual aircraft saving time and money and reducing risk. The ACT trainer:

  • Combines fully simulated cockpit and a virtual aircraft that provides access to almost any aircraft component, enhanced with real time animated schematics of aircraft systems, making for a unique training environment.
  • Allows for systems familiarization, maintenance procedure training and troubleshooting under normal and abnormal conditions as in an actual aircraft.
  • Deployed in a classroom environment with an instructor station and six student workstations for 12 students, CAE offers a turnkey solution for the ACT classroom according to Airbus specifications.
