The IndiGo A320 type rating program is self-sponsored, the pilot will fund himself/herself for the type rating program.
A320 type-qualification training, which follows Indian DGCA requirements, will be conducted at any location within the CAE network – location will be assigned and communicated to the selected candidates. The course will last approximately 8 weeks.
Selected applicants will go through the following tests:
Aviation knowledge test: Questions are based on DGCA CAR SECTION 7 Flight Crew Standards Training and Licensing. SERIES B PART IV. The ‘cool off’ period, which is the minimum duration a candidate is required to wait before reappearing for the test, will be determined by IndiGo from time to time and communicated by CAE to the applicants.
The number of candidates allowed for the second phase (CASS testing) and assessments thereafter will depend on IndiGo’s Junior First Officer (JFO) hiring requirement. All candidates who score the minimum pass marks, as decided by IndiGo, shall be intimated individually by CAE. Henceforth, the results will not be announced on the day of the test.
Applicants successfully completing the aviation knowledge test will be attending the CAE Aircrew Selection System (CASS).
The cost of CAE Aircrew Selection System (CASS) is 600 USD and is non-refundable.

Q. What is the process of selection?
An eligible candidate will be screened by a series of tests for ability, aptitude and psychological profile to be conducted by CSTPL/CAE in India. Successful candidates will be interviewed by IndiGo. Selected candidates will be given a conditional Letter of Intent of Employment by IndiGo. CAE will make the arrangement for their Type Rating Training. After successfully completing the Type Rating, IndiGo will conduct a Skill evaluation on A320 Simulator.
Q. Where will I be trained for A320 Type Rating?
The A320 type rating training will be conducted at CAE centres approved by IndiGo.
Q. Who will arrange my visa for training?
CAE will facilitate the Visa process for you but you will be responsible to obtain your own visa & other necessary travel related documents.
Q. Who will make my travel arrangements?
The candidate is responsible to make his/her own travel arrangements.
Q. Who will pay for my medical Insurance during training?
You will be required to take a medical insurance on your own.
Q. Where will I stay during training and who will arrange it?
To be decided later, however the training school will facilitate arrangements for your stay. The cost of accommodation will be borne by the candidate.
Q. Who pays for the A320 Type Rating Training?
The cost of A320 Type Rating training is borne by the candidate.
Q. If I do this investment, will IndiGo guarantee a job?
IndiGo does not guarantee a job. IndiGo will issue a letter expressing its intention to hire you, subject to meeting the conditions stipulated in the Letter of Intent (LOI).
Q. What kind of employment agreement do I get (permanent/temporary)?
If you are hired by IndiGo, employment will be Permanent in nature.
Q. From what stage in the program will I get paid?
The payment will start the day pilot joins IndiGo as a Jr. First Officer.
Q. Once hired, what salary can I expect?
Successful candidates shall be offered a job with IndiGo, as Jr. First Officer and they would be required to sign a Pilot Employment Agreement. The salary & benefits shall be payable as prevalent on the day of signing the contract agreement by IndiGo. Compensation shall be decided by IndiGo at its sole discretion.
The Company will contribute an amount equal to twelve percent (12%) of a Pilot’s Basic Pay into a fund (the “Provident Fund”)
A Pilot who has rendered continuous service to the Company for not less than five (5) years will be entitled to payment of an amount (“Gratuity”). The amount of Gratuity paid will be equal to fifteen (15) days of the last rate of Basic Pay drawn by the Pilot, multiplied by the number of completed years of service, or part thereof in excess of six (6) months. Notwithstanding the prior sentence, the amount of Gratuity payable to a Pilot shall not exceed three hundred fifty thousand Rupees (Rs.3,50,000). Insurance:

A crew member who suffers injury / death in the unlikely event of an aircraft accident will be paid as per the limited liability laid down by the law and covered in the Aircraft Comprehensive insurance.
IndiGo will provide pilots with uniforms. The company will establish normal replacement cycles.
IndiGo will provide Pilots transportation to and from the airport, either by providing pilots a taxi allowance, or by providing company-paid pick-up and drop-off service for flight duty, depending on location.
Pilots, spouses and their dependents will be eligible for personal travel on IndiGo flights on space available basis and in accordance with IndiGo’s travel policies. The pilot will be liable to pay all taxes, airport charges, etc.
Q. What bases are available? Will I get my preferred base at the time of joining?
The allotment of the base will be at the discretion of the company. A Pilot may be required to fly the Company’s aircraft from any designated Company Domicile.
Q. How does the roster look like?
Days Off. Each Pilot will be entitled to eight (8) days off per Roster Month. Of these eight (8) days, four (4) days will be inviolable.
