The unique IndiGo Cadet Pilot Programme is specifically designed for individuals with no previous flying experience who would like to embark on a career as a pilot. The programme comprises three phases of training.

Phase 1: Ground Theory & Flight Training

This phase provides the cadets with the training required to obtain a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with a Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR) and to complete the required Multi-Engine piloting experience.

Cadets will first undertake 615 hours of theoretical knowledge training and flight training for the CPL, MEIR at our Academy in Gondia.

Phase 2: Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT)

Upon graduation from the DGCA CPL training programme at NFTI/CAE for cadets in the Domestic Pathway, Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) must be completed prior to the commencement of the A320 type rating. This additional training can be completed in 3-4 days and will be conducted at an overseas facility designated by CAE and approved by IndiGo. CAE will assist cadets in making these arrangements.

Phase 3: Type Rating

Once the cadets have obtained their CPL and UPRT, they move on to the Type Rating (TR) training phase to qualify as a co-pilot on the Airbus A320 aircraft. Type rating training will be conducted at one of CAE’s global network of training centres such as Bangalore, Kuala Lumpur, Madrid or Dubai.

UPRT and the Airbus A320 type rating is planned at an additional 2 and half months.
