Command Instrument Rating (CPL MECIR)

Description

A Commercial Pilot Licence with a Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating (CPL MECIR) is the minimum licence qualification required by a person to be employed as a Pilot with a commercial airline.

The CAE Melbourne CPL MECIR course content meets CASA requirements described in the Part 61 Manual of Standards.

At successful completion of the syllabus of training (including all flight tests and CASA exams) the student will obtain a Commercial Pilot Licence with a Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating.

Course outline

Teaching methods:

  • Classroom teaching of aeronautical knowledge
  • Pre and Post-flight briefings
  • Practical Flight Instruction in aircraft and classroom

Aeronautical Knowledge Training

This course includes 320 hours of classroom tuition covering aeronautical knowledge topics to enable the student to undertake the following CASA exams

  • Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
  • CPL Aerodynamics (CADA)
  • CPL Aircraft General Knowledge (CSYA)
  • CPL Human Factors (CHUF)
  • CPL Meteorology (CMET)
  • CPL Flight Rules & Air Law (CLWA)
  • CPL Navigation (CNAV)
  • CPL Operation, Performance & Flight Planning (CFPA)
  • Instrument Rating Exam (IREX)

Flight Training

This course comprises 190 hours of flight training including:

  • 51.8 hours of dual flight instruction and 6 hours simulator instruction - single-engine aircraft including 6 hours of Upset Recovery Training (UPRT)
  • 70 hours Pilot in Command (solo) - single-engine aircraft
  • 42.2 hours of dual instructional and 20 hours simulator instruction - multi-engine aircraft.
  • All flight tests (Private Pilot Licence, Multi-Engine Class Rating, Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot Licence) - first attempt only

All flight lessons also involved additional time for pre and post-flight briefings.

Course duration:

  • 15 months full-time

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to enroll in this CPL MECIR course, the following pre-requisites must to be met which includes;

  • Aged over 18 years on commencement of training
  • Able to hold an Australian Security Identification Card (ASIC)
  • Able to hold a CASA Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • English Language Skills applicable to the specific visa type being used to enter Australia – IELTS 5.5 or above recommended (international applicants only)
Assessment & Selection

Throughout the training all applicants must demonstrate competency in specified elements and performance criteria. Progressive assessment is recorded.

The Commercial Pilot Licence with Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating are granted on successful completion of the following assessments.

  • Private Pilot Licence
  • Multi Engine Class Rating
  • Multi Engine Instrument Rating
  • Commercial Pilot Licence

Commercial Pilot Licence with a Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating $101,350 inclusive of GST

All prices shown are subject to change without notification.

Note: participants will be provided with course notes, student ID and a uniform but will be required to purchase other essential items from external suppliers including, text books, publications, maps and charts, headset and other equipment required to plan and prepare for a flight. Students will be required to obtain an ASIC and a CASA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
