Course Outline

Phase 1: Theoretical Knowledge Training

  • Learn everything about ATPL related theory in 14 subjects
  • Classroom and computer-based training
  • Includes the new Knowledge Skills and Attitude (KSA) training  
  • Approximately 750 hours
  • Location: Oslo, Norway

Phase 2: Foundation Flight Training

  • Learn how to fly solo in a single-engine piston aircraft
  • Aircraft and simulator training
  • Approximately 145 hours
  • Location: Fair weather flying location
  • Perform your Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Skill Test

Phase 3: Advanced Flight Training

  • Learn how to fly using instruments on a multi-engine piston aircraft
  • Aircraft and simulator training
  • Advanced Upset Prevention & Recovery Training (UPRT)
  • Approximately 52 hours
  • Location: Oslo, Norway or Oxford, UK
  • Perform your Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR) Skill Test

Phase 4:  Airline Pilot Standards Multi Crew Cooperation (APS MCC)

  • Learn how to fly as a member of a professional airline cockpit crew
  • Classroom and Flight Simulator Training
  • Approximately 32 hours theory
  • Approximately 20 hours practice
  • Location: Oslo, Norway
  • Obtain your Airline Pilot Standards Multi Crew Cooperation (APS MCC)

Student loans and grants

The Integrated ATPL in CAE Oslo is approved by NOKUT and students can apply for student loans and grants through Lånekassen (the Loan Fund).

To receive support from the Lånekassen for higher education, you must either have general study qualifications or admission based on real competence.

As a general rule, you must be a Norwegian citizen to receive support from the Loan Fund. Foreign nationals can receive support for education in Norway if they fulfill certain conditions.

If you are a foreign citizen with a legal residence in Norway and receive education, you can receive educational support if you fulfill one of the conditions below.

  • Family member of EEA citizen
    You have the right of residence in Norway as a family member of an EEA citizen. The EEA citizen must have a different basis of residence in Norway than education.
  • Family reunification
    You have a residence permit on the basis of family immigration. The person you are reunited with must either be a Norwegian citizen or a foreign national with a different basis of residence in Norway than education.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the programme
  • Must have successfully completed secondary education
  • Must be proficient in the English language (verbal and written)
  • Must be able to obtain an EASA Class 1 Medical without restrictions

Stage 1: Online Application

CAE assessors will review all candidate applications to assess whether they successfully meet the criteria for the Integrated ATPL Programme. Successful candidates through this stage will be invited to complete an assessment with CAE.

Stage 2: ADAPT Test

Applicants who successfully pass the first stage of the selection process screening will be invited to attend the next stage of the CAE assessment, which will take place virtually or at CAE locations across Europe .

The assessment will cover:

  • Personality Questionnaire – typical behavioural preferences and tendencies
  • Progressive Mathematics – applied understanding of key, relevant mathematical concepts
  • Progressive Physics – applied understanding of key, relevant physics concepts
  • Cognitive – key cognitive aptitudes, abilities and reasoning skills
  • FAST – learning potential and multi-tasking under pressure

Stage 3: Personal Interview

On successfully reaching the required standards, you will then be offered a position on the Integrated ATPL Programme.
