Integrated Mission Training

Ensuring military personnel have all the pre-requisite skills and knowledge to support achieving mission readiness requires an innovative and experienced training partner who understands the challenges faced by military organizations around the world. That is why, as the most trusted and experienced training systems integrator in the world, CAE can design and deliver the most advanced and integrated training solutions in live-virtual-constructive (LVC) environments for air forces, navies, armies, public safety organizations, and joint operations forces.

Distributed Mission Training

As a training systems integrator, CAE offers all the required capabilities for defence and security customers to cost-effectively conduct distributed mission operations and training. Our training devices have the ability to be connected to other systems, whether live or simulated, within a common battlespace. This provides the advantage for defence and security forces to train individually, as teams, or as joint operations with other services or nations regardless of where they are physically located in the world.  We collaborate with our customers to integrate and test existing or new training devices onto their secure, internal networks, or we can also provide the infrastructure needed for networking to support distributed mission training.  Our objective is to provide a networked, interoperable live-virtual-constructive (LVC) training system to help our customers cost-effectively prepare for their operational missions and requirements.      Program Example CAE is performing a range of upgrades to U.S. Air Force KC-135 operational flight trainers (OFTs) and KC-135 boom operator weapon systems trainers (BOWSTs) so that these KC-135 training devices can network as part of the Mobility Air Force (MAF) Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) program. KC-135 OFTs and BOWSTs are being certified to operate on the USAF’s Distributed Training Center Network (DTCN), which hosts any MAF DMO exercises. Upgrading the KC-135 aircrew training devices means they can be networked and connected to other platforms so that the USAF can conduct live-virtual-constructive (LVC) training on a secure and classified network.

Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) Training

As many defence forces around the world explore the possibilities to use integrated live-virtual-constructive (iLVC) environments for training and experimentation, CAE leverages its training systems integration capabilities to help its customers achieve their vision. CAE has been a leading provider of simulation-based training for decades, therefore we have unmatched experience developing and delivering virtual training, which is often supplemented by constructive simulation technologies.  Today, CAE supports the delivery of live training at places such as the NATO Flying Training in Canada program, and at the Dothan Training Center where we provide the U.S. Army with comprehensive training that includes live aircraft training.  We can help bring the live-virtual and constructive pieces together to implement a fully integrated training system. With our simulation-based systems, live training capabilities, building blocks such as the Open Geospatial Consortium Common Database (OGC CDB), and our computer-generated forces (CGF) constructive simulations, we can design and deliver fully integrated, interoperable and immersive training enterprises to help maintain operational readiness.   We are also focused on joint LVC development efforts with industry partners such as Rockwell Collins to enable the more efficient and effective use of iLVC training.  Our iLVC solutions will be: Seamless and interoperable leveraging open industry standards Cybersecure Based on common and correlated synthetic environments Employ tools that facilitate the set-up, management and execution of iLVC exercises There are savings and capability to be achieved from training in simulation-based environments, though we understand that live training plays an essential part to creating an integrated and balanced military training program.  Training in live-virtual-constructive environments really pushes the limits of traditional training methods as it offers a more realistic, immersive experience and it allows for the performance of tasks or maneuvers that would be too dangerous if performed in a live weapons system. It also provides infinite space to conduct training, all variable threats needed for added realism, and ability to test fifth generation platforms that employs data fusion. CAE’s vision is to be the training partner of choice to help ensure our customers can cost-effectively enhance safety, efficiency and mission readiness.
