That’s why airlines and pilots have trusted us for 75+ years
CAE’s ATP-CTP program prerequisites stipulate that trainees must meet the minimum eligibility requirements of Part 61.153(b) and (d).
CAE also uses both airliner and corporate jet simulators for the ATP CTP course. These include the CRJ, B737, A320, Global Express, and others. All of these have similar flight deck layouts and equipment, that will familiarize you with concepts that are applicable to whatever you fly in an air carrier environment.
Absolutely! If the location is your top priority, then you can indicate that on your form when you contact us. If the date is more important and you are able to attend at any location, then we likely have an offering that would work with your schedule. By filling out the online form you will be put in contact with a central scheduling team that can help you arrange the best location and date to meet your needs.
The course is an overview and demonstration of transport category aircraft operations in an air carrier environment, and it is taught exclusively by pilots who have flown these aircraft themselves. The class time allows for instruction and time to dig deeper into topics that the students may find more challenging. The simulator training course is designed to expose the trainee to a wide variety of situations that include normal and non-normal operations. As time permits, students may practice maneuvers they want to try again.
You will be presented with a certificate of completion at the end of the course. This certificate is what you will need to present to a certified testing center in order to take the ATP Written exam.
CAE does not provide any career placement as part of the ATP CTP course.
CAE will collect payment on the first day of class. We do not offer any financing options at this time.
Typically training centers are able to offer classes as far out as 3 months in advance. The scheduling team will be happy to help find a class location and date that meets your needs.
All trainees must present their pilots’ license, medical certificate, passport, and payment on the first day of class. The course does not require any special preparation. Trainees are typically comfortable in business casual attire while attending the course, and closed toe, low rise footwear is recommended for the simulator sessions. And many find it on the chilly side in the simulators!
The course is designed to introduce and provide an overview of a broad range of topics related to flying transport category aircraft. As such, much of the course completion standard is an overview and/or demonstration level of proficiency. All students must earn a passing score on the ATP CTP written exam. Remedial training is provided in the event a trainee is unsuccessful on their exam.
Lodging is not included. Most centers have agreements with nearby hotels, and some even have preferred pricing arrangements.
Many hotels nearby the CAE training centers that offer ATP CTP are familiar with CAE and provide transportation to/from the training centers. Please check with your hotel to find out if they provide transportation. And all centers are serviced by ride share aps like Uber and Lift and also taxis.
ATP CTP is designed to introduce a broad range of topics to pilots with a Commercial Pilot's License who are pursuing their ATP License, and will be operating in an air carrier environment. It satisfies the requirements necessary to earn the certificate you must present to take the ATP Knowledge Written Exam. ATP CTP is NOT designed to prepare you for the written exam. There are course offerings out there that are specifically designed to help pilots prepare for the ATP written exam, and those are not required to take the exam. The ATP CTP course IS a requirment to take the exam.
No, the ATP CTP course is a required element to earning the ATP License. But the ATP CTP course alone does not result in any licensure.
