Description

Malaysia AirAsia seeks to develop the next generation of AirAsia pilots through the AirAsia MPL program, a competency-based training program that is designed especially for AirAsia.

Upon successfully being selected by AirAsia, aspiring pilots will be enrolled into the AirAsia MPL Program to earn a Multi-Crew Pilot License (MPL) with a Frozen ATPL to reach the ultimate objective of becoming an AirAsia co-pilot on an Airbus A320 aircraft.

Course Outline

Phase 1: Theoretical Knowledge Training

  • Learn everything about ATPL related theory in 14 subjects
  • Classroom and computer-based training (CBT)
  • Approximately 750 hours or 7-8 months

Phase 2: Foundation Flight Training  

  • Learn how to fly solo in a single-engine piston aircraft
  • Aircraft and simulator training
  • Upset Prevention & Recovery Training (UPRT)
  • Approximately 145 hours or 5-6 months
  • Perform your Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Skill Test

Phase 3: Advanced Flight Training

  • Learn how to fly using instruments on a multi-engine piston aircraft
  • Aircraft and simulator training
  • Approximately 52 hours or 3-4 months

Phase 4: Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) / Jet Orientation Course (JOC) 

  • Learn how to fly as a member of a professional airline cockpit crew
  • Classroom and Flight Simulator Training
  • Approximately 5 weeks
  • Obtain your Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) / Jet Orientation Course (JOC) certificate

Phase 5: Airbus A320 Type Rating 

Eligibility Requirements
  • Citizen or permanent residency within Malaysia
  • Aged over 17 years at the time of application with the maximum age of 28
  • Minimum height of 163cm (5ft 4in)
  • Must have the following academic qualifications:
    • Secondary or High School graduate pre-requisites:
      • A grade of any “A” in English
      • A grade of any “A” in Mathematics
      • A grade of any “B” in Physics or any “A” in General Science
      • A grade of any “B" in any other two subjects;
  • OR
    • Diploma or Degree in Engineering/Science related discipline, pre-requisites:
      • GPA 3.0 and above;
      • SPM with a grade of “C” in any subjects, of which must include Mathematics, Science, and English and
      • A pass in Bahasa Malaysia.

 

  • Good command in English both written and spoken
  • No criminal / accident record
  • Physically and mentally fit. A DCA class 1 Medical Certificate must be obtained before enrollment to the flight school. Distant visual acuity with or without visual correction shall be 6/9 or better in each eye separately, and binocular visual acuity shall be 6/6 or better. Refractive error of not more than 5 diopters. Astigmatism of not more than 125D. Not colour blind. Final approval subject to Medical Doctor/Ophthalmologist Report
Assessment & Selection

All applicants will be screened and selected based on the initial entry requirements.

Phase 1: Online application

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you can apply when the cadet recruitment program is announced. AirAsia assessors will review your application and successful candidates will be invited to take an assessment test.

Phase 2: Airline assessment tests

Applicants who have been selected by AirAsia after successfully applying will be invited to take the assessment tests at a designated location, at a designated date and time.

Phase 3: Interview

Candidates that successfully pass all the assessment tests will be shortlisted for a face-to-face interview.

Those who emerge successfully from the selection process will be given a letter of intent by AirAsia to progress to the next step to undertake a MPL training.

Note:

All candidates who score the minimum pass marks, as decided by AirAsia, shall be interviewed individually. Henceforth, the results will not be announced on the day of the test.

The number of candidates allowed for the assessments will be based on AirAsia Management’s selection.
