CAE is proud to be one of the partner schools providing training for the American Airlines Cadet Academy, first-of-its-kind program designed to help future aviators receive the training, financing and mentoring opportunities they need to fly for the world’s largest airline.

Course Outline

Part 141 approved Course (includes all FAA flight checks) – total 203 hours.

  • 165 hours FAA Ground School (PPL, IR, CPL/ME)
  • 150 hours Single Engine aircraft trainer (G1000 cockpit)
  • 28.5 hours Multi-Engine aircraft trainer (G-1000 cockpit)
  • 24.5 hours Flight Training Device

Single Engine Add on – total 8 hours

  • 8 hours Single Engine aircraft trainer (G-1000 cockpit)

Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) & Certified Instrument Instructor Course (CFII) – total 18.5 hours

  • 120 hours FAA Ground School (CFI/CFII)
  • 10.5 hours CFI training (including 1.5-hour UPRT)
  • 8 hours CFII training

Assessment & Selection

1. Complete your application on the American Airlines Portal by selecting “Apply Now” on this page
2. Applicants to complete designated assessments within the American Airline’s portal
3. Selected candidates will be invited web based interview with American Airline’s Pilot recruiting department

Eligibility Requirements
  • Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Be 21 years old by the completion of the approximately three year program.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED (college degree preferred).
  • Be able to obtain an FAA Physical (first class medical).
  • Be able to obtain a valid passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Pass a background check.
