“We are delighted that Dr. Robert Amyot is being recognized for his contribution to healthcare simulation,” said Marc Parent, CEO of CAE. “Throughout his career, Robert has relentlessly pursued a vision of safer healthcare through simulation, and we are proud that the industry recognizes his leadership and innovations.”

“His combined clinical experience, background in education and scientific research, passion for innovation and uncompromising vision distinguish Dr. Robert Amyot in the field of healthcare simulation,” said George Cheros, Chief Operating Officer of the National Center for Simulation.

A native of Montreal, Dr. Amyot obtained his medical degree from the University of Montreal. He achieved certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Amyot became a practitioner, researcher and associate professor of medicine at the University of Montreal, where he taught clinical cardiology and echocardiography. As a researcher, he authored 29 scientific articles published in peer‐reviewed journals. He delivered lectures as an invited speaker at more than 60 workshops and international scientific conferences.

He sold his first commercial Vimedix simulator to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where it is still being used for training and research today.

Following several years as an entrepreneur, Dr. Amyot sold his company to CAE Healthcare where he became Chief Medical Officer, and then President. He quickly gained recognition as an advocate for simulation-based education in healthcare to improve patient safety. Today, he is promoting simulation‐based training standards and ongoing competency assessment for clinicians with medical societies and associations. The National Center for Simulation Hall of Fame was established in 2014 to honor pioneers in simulation for various industries. The Orange County Convention Center donated a permanent display space in its South Concourse to showcase the Hall of Fame and the Industry. Annually, over 1 million conventioneers from different industries pass by the exhibit.
