Description

Grow your pilot career with Porter - Canada’s fastest growing airline – by joining the direct-entry, airline-focused ab initio pilot training program provided by Cygnet Aviation Academy, CAE and Porter Airlines.

This program is designed for people with little or no flight experience. Applicants without any previous flight experience are encouraged to apply.

•   Integrated Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) training for 20 months in Kingston, Ontario

•   Dash 8-400 type training at CAE Toronto

•   Upon successful completion of the training program and subject to certain conditions, the graduates of the Porter Cadet Program will join Porter Airlines as first officers on the Dash 8-400.

Theoretical Knowledge

Foundation Flight Training

  • Learn how to fly solo in a single-engine piston aircraft
  • Aircraft and Flight Simulation Training Device training
  • Complete your Private Pilot Flight Test

Intermediate Flight Training

  • Complete your Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Flight Test
  • Learn how to fly a Multi-engine aircraft and complete your Multi-Engine Rating Flight Test
  • Aircraft and Flight Simulation Training Device training
  • Location: Cygnet Aviation Academy, Kingston, Ontario

Advanced Flight Training

  • Learn how to fly using instruments on a multi-engine piston aircraft
  • Aircraft and simulator training
  • Complete your Multi-Engine Instrument Flight Test
  • Location: Cygnet Aviation Academy, Kingston, Ontario

Multi-Crew Coordination and Jet Transition Training

  • Learn how to fly as a member of a professional airline cockpit crew
  • Flight Simulation Training Device training
  • Location: Cygnet Aviation Academy, Kingston, Ontario

Dash 8-400 Type training

  • Learn how to fly a Dash 8-400
  • Classroom and Flight Simulator Training on Dash 8-400 full-flight simulator
  • Approximately 8 weeks
  • Absolve CAE’s Dash 8-400 type training program
  • Location: CAE Toronto, Toronto, Canada

Porter Cadet Program

$149,650* CAD plus taxes

*The amount is subject to periodic review and might be adjusted accordingly.

Financing opportunities are available through CIBC and Scotiabank.

CIBC provides student loans up to $200,000.

Scotiabank provides student loans up to $100,000.

Student loan applications and instructions will be provided upon acceptance into the program.

    Citizenship: Legally entitled to work in Canada, and a citizen or permanent resident of Canada. In the latter case, the Trainee must be able to obtain and maintain crew visa documentation required to operate aircraft within the USA.

    Minimum Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma.

    Minimum Age: 18 years old.

    Physical & Medical Requirements: Must be able to obtain a Category 1 Medical Certificate issued by TC.

    Language Skills: Fluency in English, both written & spoken; a minimum of ICAO level 4 English Language proficiency.
