Elise Eberwein

Corporate Director

Elise Eberwein joined CAE’s board in 2022. She has held leadership positions at six airlines, including several start-up low-cost airlines and three major airlines. In her most recent position, she served for 9 years as Executive Vice President, People and Communications at American Airlines from 2013 to 2022. Ms. Eberwein also served as Executive Vice President, People, Communications and Public Affairs at US Airways, and as Vice President, Corporate Communications at America West Airlines. Ms. Eberwein began her career as a flight attendant for Trans World Airlines and spent 11 years serving in various capacities at that airline.

Experience, Qualifications, Attributes, and Skills

Ms. Eberwein has over 35 years of experience in the commercial aviation sector, and possesses a deep knowledge of the aerospace industry. She has extensive human resources and compensation expertise gained through her roles leading all HR functions for more than 15 years, including as Chief Human Resources Officer for American Airlines, with extensive executive compensation knowledge, talent development and succession planning experience. She also brings expertise in sustainability, obtained while developing and leading the diversity and inclusion initiatives as part of her responsibilities as CHRO of American Airlines. Ms. Eberwein also gained significant strategic leadership and management experience while in leadership roles at both US Airways and American Airlines, which also included being a member of the executive management team leading two major airline mergers with responsibility for the subsequent integration work. Ms. Eberwein holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Lindenwood University and a Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University.
