François Olivier joined CAE’s board in 2017. Known for placing growth, performance, and innovation at the core of his guiding philosophy, Mr. Olivier served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Transcontinental Inc., a North American leader in flexible packaging, from 2008 to 2021. Prior to this role, he also held the position of President of the Information Products Printing Sector, and then became Chief Operating Officer in 2007. Before joining Transcontinental in the Printing Sector in 1993, where he rose through the ranks and held numerous leadership positions, Mr. Olivier served as General Manager of Canada Packers from 1988 to 1993. He currently sits on the board of Fiera Capital Corp.
Experience, Qualifications, Attributes, and Skills
Mr. Olivier brings extensive expertise in strategic leadership and management, gained while in the roles of CEO and COO at Transcontinental, where he drove profitable business growth through M&A and in managing large-scale manufacturing operations. In this role, he also gained experience in international markets by managing the multinational company with revenue of $3 billion and 9,000 employees operating in eight different countries. Mr. Olivier also brings extensive experience in manufacturing and supply chain acquired while at Transcontinental, where he managed a network of 45 manufacturing locations across diverse geographies. During his time at Transcontinental, he also developed an expertise in capital markets and M&A, which included developing and transforming the company through multiple mergers and acquisition activities. Mr. Olivier holds a Bachelor of Science from McGill University and is a graduate of the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School.
