CAE Maestro patient simulator operating system now enhanced with TWME8’s iRIS collaborative platform

Paired with CAE Maestro, iRIS allows educators to create and export simulation scenarios and enables greater standardization, global collaboration and alignment with professional guidelines and best practices

At the International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH), CAE Healthcare and UK-based software company TWME8 are showcasing a tool that allows healthcare educators to create simulation-based learning scenarios that meet the highest educational standards. Educators will now be able to export scenarios from iRIS to the CAE Healthcare patient simulators to deliver classroom learning experiences and team training that are realistic and aligned with latest standards in healthcare.

“The new iRIS simulation authoring platform is receiving rave reviews from clinical educators,” said Dr. Robert Amyot, president of CAE Healthcare. “As iRIS is gaining adoption, it will enable the global community of educators to quickly and easily develop and share standardized, simulation-based practice scenarios. By connecting iRIS with our CAE Maestro operating system for patient simulators, we strive to make the life of educators easier.”

“This is an exciting development in our mission to improve patient safety by supporting educators in the development of the highest quality learning experiences.” said Philip Purver, Chief Executive of TWME8. “Being able to easily export scenarios to the industry’s most advanced patient simulators created by CAE Healthcare will generate efficiencies that will let us all further progress the application of simulation for patient safety. This collaboration agreement is a significant step towards our common vision at CAE and TWME8 of enabling all simulation professionals globally to collaborate on high quality learning scenarios through iRIS.”

More than 1,700 simulation educators currently use the iRIS software platform to create high-quality learning content for patient simulation, Standardized Patient education and virtual education. Each scenario can be aligned with leading society standards based on healthcare discipline, such as nursing or anesthesia, and they can also be tailored to include differences among geographic regions and cultures. In addition to scenario-building, iRIS can be implemented to support formative and summative assessments across campuses or simulation centers. Developed in the United Kingdom in collaboration with clients around the world, the iRIS platform is also being adapted for professional certification and accreditation.

The integration of iRIS with CAE Maestro can be previewed at the IMSH conference, at the Human Patient Simulation Network (HPSN) World conference in Orlando in February.  Learn more at www.irissimulationauthoring.com
