At CAE USA, we are proud to be a trusted training partner to the U.S. Army Aviation Branch, delivering world-class simulation and aviation training solutions that prepare warfighters for mission success. Our support spans the Army’s rotary-wing and fixed-wing communities – from initial-entry flight training to advanced mission rehearsal systems.
CAE plays a critical role in the Army’s aviation training enterprise, providing instruction and support to 100% of Army aviators at some point in their career. Our aviation training portfolio provides a cohesive and streamlined approach to supporting Army Aviation, enhancing operational effectiveness, and enabling mission success.
CAE USA plays a critical role in preparing the next generation of Army aviators through the Advanced Helicopter Flight Training Support (AHFTS) program. As a trusted partner to the U.S. Army, we deliver high-quality rotary-wing training that combines real-world expertise, cutting-edge simulation, and rigorous standards of instruction.
Through AHFTS, CAE supports the training of approximately 900 U.S. Army aviators and foreign national students transitioning to the CH-47F, UH-60M, or AH-64E rotary wing aircraft annually. Our team of highly experienced instructor pilots provides classroom, simulator, and aircraft-based training designed to ensure mission readiness from day one.
This program is central to enabling safe, efficient, and scalable pilot development for the Army’s future force.
The CAE Dothan Training Center (DTC) is a 79,000 square-foot purpose-built training facility providing live, virtual, and constructive training to the U.S. Army (USA), U.S. Air Force (USAF), U.S. Navy (USN) and other customers. DTC’s location is at the Dothan Regional Airport in Dothan, Alabama, and is home to the USA Fixed-Wing Flight Training Service and supports the High Accuracy Detection and Exploitation System (HADES) program. CAE, with a team of industry partners, use the DTC to provide the Department of Defense with comprehensive initial and recurrent training for more than 800 USA, USAF, and USN pilots annually.
We provide turnkey training that prepares Army aviators for today’s missions across evolving operational landscape.
CAE delivers comprehensive fixed-wing flight training to U.S. Army aviators at the Dothan Training Center, preparing pilots to operate aircraft such as the C-12 Huron. This turnkey program includes academic instruction, simulator-based training, and live flying in CAE-owned aircraft. The training ensures a smooth transition from rotary to fixed-wing platforms and supports a range of Army missions.
CAE provides flight training services through operational flight training support for the U.S. Army High Accuracy Detection and Exploitation System (HADES), a critical part of the Army’s multi-domain A-ISR capability. At the CAE DTC, CAE provides a contractor-owned, contractor-operated Bombardier Global 6500 training solution in support of the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). We deliver tailored training for aircrews operating this high-altitude, fixed-wing platform, ensuring mission readiness for strategic surveillance, intelligence gathering, and threat detection.

We play a central role at key Army training installations, including Fort Rucker, where we provide instruction, maintenance, and simulator support for the next generation of Army aviators. With integrated synthetic environments, advanced flight simulators, and immersive training systems, CAE enables the Army to train safely, effectively, and efficiently – anytime, anywhere.
In 2023, CAE was awarded a contract from General Dynamics Information Technology to support FSTSS at Fort Rucker, Alabama. The contract supports the award to GDIT by the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation, for simulation capabilities and training support services to prepare initial entry-level and graduate-level rotary wing flight training at Fort Rucker.
