ATPL theory sessions

Description

CAE’s ATPL Brush Up Session is designed for cadets who seek to build confidence and enhance their piloting skills. The programme is held over a two-day period at CAE’s London-Gatwick Training Center, covering Meteorology, Principles of Flight, General Navigation and Flight Planning. Candidates must be currently enrolled in an ATPL theory course, whether that be full time or distance learning, and will take their exams under their current ATO.

Course Breakdown/Lesson Plans

  • 1 Day PoF & Met
  • 1 Day FPM & GNav

Principles of Flight

  • 3 hour session covering the following:
  • 1 hour – Subsonic Aerodynamics (AoA, Cl, Lift Augmentation etc)
  • 0.5 hour – High Speed Flight (Mcrit, Shock Stall, Mach Tuck)
  • 0.5 hour – Propellers (Fixed and VP Props)
  • 1 hour – Mechanics of Flight (Climb, descent, turn)

Meteorology

  • 3 hour session covering the following
  • 1 hour – Altimetry
  • 1 hour – Air Masses
  • 1 hour - Climatology

General Navigation

  • 3 hour session covering the following:
  • 1 hour – CRP-5
  • 2 hours – Charts (Mercator, Lamberts, Polar)

Flight Planning

  • 3 hour session covering the following
  • 1 hour – Fuel policy
  • 1 hour – CAP 697
  • 1 hour – PSR and PET

All candidates must be currently enrolled onto an ATPL theory course, whether that be full time or distance learning, and will take their exams under their current ATO.
