Thinking about “Shaping your future career” while studying full-time can be stressful, and trying to navigate the job market and understand what employers are looking for and how your degree fits can at times be overwhelming. Career fairs provide an ideal opportunity for students to meet with future employers, ask questions, and obtain a true grasp of a company's work life and culture.
CAE's team travels throughout the USA each year taking part in dozens of university career fairs. Meeting with students is a highlight for us, each unique journey of the students we meet inspires us, particularly their passion when speaking to us about what they love and their career aspirations.
“CAE has been supportive of me getting my Masters,” says Meagan Lotz, Weapons Aero Software Engineer, CAE Arlington, TX. “It’s been a great experience. I’ve had a lot of opportunities with freedom, learning, and taking on more responsibilities. I excel in this way.”
We’re thrilled for you to meet Meagan Lotz. Meagan graduated in 2023 from The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) with her Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and today she is pursuing her Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering at UTA. While attending a recruitment fair at UTA CAE’s recruitment team was lucky enough to meet her and, shortly after, welcome her to the CAE team as a Weapons Aero Software Engineer Intern. Since then, in just one and a half short years, Meagan has joined CAE full-time as a Weapons Aero Software Engineer at CAE Arlington in Texas.
CAE is a leader in the defense and security industry providing global defense forces with innovative simulation and training solutions. When we sat down, with Meagan, we asked her a few questions about her job, how she finds CAE’s culture and some advice she’d give to future UTA grads. Here’s what she had to say,
“My favorite part of my job is seeing the final result and the customer’s reaction to the products we work on. Also, the fact that we are helping them and delivering to their expectations. The company culture is good. Everyone I work with is very chill, cognizant of each other and supportive of each other. My manager is super encouraging if I need to take time off or flex my time off. I also like having every other Friday off.”
For those students considering a career with CAE…
“CAE is a great place to work at. You get out of it as much as you put in. I was an aerospace engineer and didn’t have a software engineering background, so I was able to learn that side. There are a lot of different aspects that we touch. There are different experiences that we touch on as well.“
One particularly memorable moment Meagan shared with us was her involvement in a new program requiring deliveries for the US Navy. Not only was the team able to deliver and exceed their expectations, but also delivered earlier than expected.
