CAE e-Series MR Prodigy Visual System

Designed specifically for military fighter and fast-jet training, the CAE Medallion MR e-Series visual system includes a back-projection dome display system and high-brightness laser projectors offering unparalleled immersion and realism.

At I/ITSEC 2021, CAE will launch its newest Image Generator - CAE Prodigy, with our 225° dome display version as the showcase. High-fidelity, gaming-engine visuals drive industry‑leading electronic collimation, 3D viewing and optimized night vision goggles (NVG). Visitors will be immersed in typical fast‑jet training scenarios: air-to-air refueling (AAR), formation flying and low altitude flying, sitting in the cockpit in the CAE Medallion MR e-Series 225° Visual System.

CAE Common All-Domain Environment for Test and Training (CADETT)

To prepare for a great power competition requires a secure, on-demand, and multi-domain environment to enable effective training and mission rehearsal for the joint force. CAE’s Common All-Domain Environment for Test and Training (CADETT) offers this environment for the U.S. military. CADETT is a cybersecure construct employing correlated visuals, threats, and environmental conditions to enable tactical and operational level training for the military user. Empowered by Simulator Common Architecture Requirements and Standards (SCARS) on premise equipment (OPE), our I/ITSEC 2021 CADETT demo connects:

  • The air domain (CAE F-16 Mixed Reality Training Device (MRTD))
  • The ground domain (CAE Joint Terminal Control Training Rehearsal System)
  • The C4ISR operational level (CAE cloud-based Virtual ISR Training Aid, VISTA)

CAE Virtual Intelligence Surveillance & Reconnaissance Training Application (VISTA)

The Virtual Intelligence Surveillance & Reconnaissance Training Application (VISTA) provides real-time dynamic feeds from virtual C4ISR assets and fed directly to intelligence screeners and C2 terminals. Controlled in real-time, VISTA can provide C4ISR professionals a dedicated, highly affordable, stand-alone access to train, conduct mission rehearsal, or assess their operational plans on any mission set from initial preparation of the operational environment (IPOE) to real-time interdiction support and strike, and all-domain near-peer targeting.

Cloud-ready, VISTA is compliant with the USAF’s Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) standards and can link multiple US and coalition partners for small- or large-scale mission training and exercises. Its containerized architecture allows it to be installed as part of any centralized or local cloud system to scale support across any JADC2 enterprise. VISTA is a key enabler for a true, common virtual training environment for the joint force.

CAE F-16 Mixed Reality Training Device (MRTD)

CAE’s F-16 MRTD training suite represents the next generation of small footprint, low-cost, yet high fidelity flight training devices. We believe using actual aircraft operational flight programs (OFP), aero, radar, and weapons models to generate realistic aircraft responses is critical for effective combat training. Combat success against near-peer threats is measured in ever-decreasing performance deltas and training systems must replicate the aircraft in the most exact manner. Our devices use Mixed Reality simulation achieved by blending Virtual Reality, precision hand tracking, and the accurate, tactile feel of an aircraft’s instruments. Basic mission/threat scenarios provide experience across multiple mission sets, including flight profiles, sensor ops, weapons and overall situational awareness. This ensures pilots operate in a tactically correct training environment as though they are performing actual missions. Many VR training systems exist, but none match our fidelity, realism, scale and adaptability.

CAE Joint Terminal Control Training and Rehearsal System (JTC-TRS)

The JTC TRS is a mission critical simulation system used to train new Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC) to provide close air support by controlling aircraft weapons delivery on enemy forces. It is a fully immersive system enabling JTACs to train for complex missions in a simulated and controlled environment. The JTC TRS training system offers three configurations for JTAC training: a 270-degree field of view projected dome, a desktop configuration with flat screens, and a deployable configuration with a small footprint for individual training. Our dome and desktop configurations are Distributed Mission Operations Network (DMON) capable and provide pilot and instructor stations as well as emulated military equipment to enhance the training environment. Additionally, JTC TRS system includes the Joint Theater Air-Ground Simulation System (JTAGSS), which provides a live-virtual-construction and DMON enabled training environment for Air Support Operations Center personnel to coordinate air delivered fires on the battlefield.

The JTC TRS is being developed by CAE USA in Arlington, Texas and will be delivered to 26 Air Force designated training locations around the world. CAE USA will support the installation and ongoing maintenance of the simulation systems required for Joint Terminal Attack Controller training.

CAE Immersive Maintenance Guide (IMG)

CAE’s Immersive Maintenance Guide is part of our +Tempo line of training products designed to enhance and accelerate maintenance training. It is constructed with detailed and interactive 3D graphics and is delivered either via tablet or in an immersive virtual reality environment through headsets. IMG provides access to the same advanced courseware, which includes current technical order and Interactive Electronic Tech Manuals (IETMS) data. Benefits of IMG include accelerated skills acquisition, built in performance feedback, rapid ingestion of updated technical order data, and reduced need for live assets, to name a few. IMG brings effective maintenance training at the point of need and was proven on a CV-22 trial to increase student’s overall proficiency and confidence by 42%.

CAE Trax Academy - Rotary Wing Flight Crew Training

Learn, Practice, Perform

The CAE Trax Academy is a training continuum for faster, better and more efficient pilot throughput. This year we will demonstrate the evolution of the CAE Trax Academy from single pilot training to multi-crew training, and from fixed wing to rotary wing flight crew training. The demonstration will highlight the integration of courseware, technologies, and innovation to provide a cohesive and experiential learning continuum for the optimal acquisition of knowledge and development of skills.

Learn - Delivering the academic understanding of a training task or procedure through state-of-the-art training media, including high-fidelity cross platform courseware. VR-enhanced modules supported by Adaptive Learning enable a visually immersive experience for students as they Learn the training procedure.

Practice - Next, students Practice on the interactive CAE Sprint Virtual Reality (VR) trainer equipped with physical controls, supported by a virtual coach and ongoing performance assessment to develop transferrable skills, and master each maneuver. The CAE Sprint VR trainers will simulate a helicopter, including the ability to couple the two Sprint VR trainers for integrated crew training.

Perform - Skills are honed through instructor feedback informed by the cumulative performance data collected from assessment, such as CAE Rise, and monitoring biometric and gaze tracking activity to pinpoint coachable opportunities for actionable feedback.

U.S. Marine Corps Wargaming Center

CAE USA is part of the BAE Systems industry team supporting the prototype design for the U.S. Marine Corps Wargamming Center in Quantico, VA. CAE provides simulation expertise and synthetic environment development services, including weather modeling, terrain generation and three-dimensional (3D) data visualization. Along with other industry partners, BAE offers breakthrough technology and predictive analytics-based wargaming solutions that automate planning, execution, and post-game analytics. The integrated, forward-leaning prototype, Pioneer, is designed to meet the future wargaming requirements of U.S. government customers, providing automated, intelligent, and trustworthy capability across multiple domains including land, air, sea, space and cyber. Pioneer utilizes cutting edge, explainable artificial intelligence (AI) based on linguistic geometry, machine learning, and predictive analytics to deliver a truly immersive environment with critical verified, validated, and accredited analytics to provide military leaders with a competitive and information advantage.



Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Mission Trainer

The CAE Universal high-fidelity UAS Mission Trainer now includes a VTOL vehicle option, in addition to the current Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) version. Our trainer is platform-agnostic - the simulator can be tailored to simulate any specific UAS aircraft with any sensor payload suite. Leveraging the Open Geospatial Consortium Common Database (OGC CDB) architecture and commercially available technology, CAE’s UAS Mission Trainer is not subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). The completely immersive synthetic environment provides capabilities for ab-initio training, basic flight operation, basic payload operation as well as mission planning and mission rehearsal. The UAS Mission Trainer includes typical payloads such as Electro Optic/Infrared/Low Light TV, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), all controlled by a STANAG 4586 compliant Ground Control Station (GCS).
